Wilmington steps into 100,000-plus ranks

Wilmington’s estimated population of 100,192 as of last July ranked it the 273rd most populous city in the country. That also made it the smallest city with a count of 100,000 or more.

Man stabbed multiple times

Wilmington | A man was stabbed multiple times shortly after 10 p.m. Tuesday at the corner of 13th and Ann streets, Wilmington police Sgt. B.L. Pettus said.The 45-year-old victim suffered what appeared to be non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to New Hanover Regional Medical Center, Pettus said.

GE’s uranium enrichment venture still on track

GE’s uranium enrichment venture has completed its license application to the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission, staying on schedule with its efforts which are expected to bring more than 500 construction jobs to Castle Hayne as early as 2012.
