Baby cows bucked and squealed as Hannah Jacobs’ veterinarian uncle clipped tags on their ears on one of her first trips with him for a house call.It was a little scary.“They were making these really loud noises, like a higher pitched moo,” Jacobs said. “I remember standing back with my eyes really big.”

Lynda Jeffreys did not listen to her preacher entirely during his Sunday morning sermons.“She was too busy staring at the stained glass windows,” daughter Ann Thur said.Linda Campbell Jeffreys of Burgaw died May 21, from cancer at the age of 80.
