Murrayville Elementary students celebrated the end of school with a trivia bee Wednesday morning.

Some questions in the bee included “What coin equals ten cents?” and “What is the largest animal in the ocean?”.

Competition was stiff, but eventually the first graders were whittled down to one humble winner, Matteo Meehan.

“It was really fun to win, um, and, and I’m happy that another person in my class got, like, one of these ribbons because he came in second, his name, that, his name is Jason Bakadano, and everyone who tried their best to um, go up there and, and volunteer to do the trivia bee, they must have been really brave because trivia is like all different subjects, um, its reading, math, science, um, so, it was really fun to win.”

Matteo has his championship dance down pat; he’s a back-to-back winner. Matteo was the trivia bee champ when he was in kindergarten last year.

For his victory, he got a blue ribbon, a certificate, and a gift certificate for McDonald’s apple dippers.
