Woman stabilized after rescue from water off Holden Beach

HOLDEN BEACH | A woman was pulled from the water near Holden Beach Sunday afternoon and was not breathing when she was rushed to a hospital, officials said.Rescue workers tried to resuscitate the woman, who was unconscious when she was brought to shore a little after 1 p.m., said Chief Doug Todd of the Tri-Beach Volunteer Fire Department.

Frank Poole worked out at a gym and hiked around his Mississippi home carrying a weighted pack for months in preparation for his trip to the Grand Canyon.But it wasn’t long after Poole started hiking on a popular Grand Canyon trail that he was struggling to breathe.
