Man shot at 12th and Rankin streets in Wilmington

Wilmington | A man was shot in the lower part of his body Tuesday night during a robbery attempt near the intersection of 12th and Rankin streets, officials said.The incident occurred about 9 p.m. and the victim was expected to survive, officials said.

PPD founder Fred Eshelman to get star on Walk of Fame

WILMINGTON| Celebrate Wilmington will dedicate a star on the city’s Walk of Fame to Fred Eshelman, founder and executive chairman of PPD, Inc., the global contract research organization based in Wilmington. The dedication ceremony will be 4 p.m., Sept. 24, at the Cotton Exchange in downtown Wilmington.
