Apex – N.C. woman charged in husband’s beating death

APEX, N.C. (AP) – Authorities say a 55-year-old North Carolina woman is charged with beating her husband to death with a hammer.Multiple media outlets reported Saturday that Jolene Hardy is charged with killing 60-year-old Gerald Douglas Hardy, who was found dead July 16 on the kitchen floor of their Apex home.

N.C. swine flu patient dies in Transylvania County

BREVARD, N.C. (AP) – Health officials say a 55-year-old North Carolina man diagnosed with swine flu has died.The Citizen-Times of Asheville reported Saturday the man was admitted to a Transylvania County hospital on Monday with pneumonia and flu-like symptoms.
