A person was shot Saturday night while walking along Oakley Road in northern New Hanover County and is being taken to New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington, according to initial reports from authorities.

Will not having a hotel affect operations and bookings at the convention center?

Without a hotel next door, the Wilmington Convention Center won’t be as attractive to potential guests.But the true effect of the missing hotel on convention center business won’t be known until after the center opens. The impact also will depend largely on how long it takes for a hotel to open.
