Southport Board rejects fort museum proposal

The Southport Board of Aldermen has rejected a proposal from the Southport Historical Society to turn part of the Garrison House on the city’s Fort Johnston property into a fort museum and learning center.

Cape Fear Community College’s cosmetology program underwent an extreme makeover, including a complete change in location. A new student-run cosmetology salon opened at CFCC’s North Campus off Blue Clay Road in Castle Hayne last week.

UNCW remembers and honors those involved in 9/11

A memorial to the victims of the September 11th attacks is taking shape on the UNCW campus Friday morning.

A small flag for each of the 2,977 victims will be placed in the ground between Randall Library and the clock tower.

Students will also accept donations for Never Forget our Fallen, which helps families who lost a loved one on September 11th, 2001.

The memorial is open to the public until 7:00 p.m. tonight.
