The man was identified as Christopher Allen Stephens, of 3204 Dalton Court in Wilmington.

A man who got out of a car late Thursday and started walking along the Martin Luther King Jr. Parkway was hit by a pickup truck and killed.

A 24 year old man is dead after an accident on Wilmington’s Martin Luther King Parkway Thursday night. It happened around 8:45 p.m. near the Highway 133 exit.

Investigators told NewsChannel 3 the victim’s car was stopped on the side of the road and he was outside of it when he was hit and killed.

The westbound lanes of MLK were blocked off for about two hours.

Highway patrol is investigating.
