Prosecutor satisfied with deal in child porn case

A local prosecutor is pleased with a plea agreement that will result in a lengthy prison term for the owner of a private police force. Joseph Guarascio pleaded guilty to producing child pornography because he made a sex tape with his 17-year-old girlfriend.

Funeral arrangements have been finalized by the family of the UNCW student who passed away last week.

John Edward Sackett III, known to friends as JT, was killed when lightning hit near the Oceanic Pier while he was swimming.

Visitation will be Wednesday and funeral services will be Thursday. Both will be held in Sackett’s hometown of Annapolis, Maryland.

Sackett’s friends are planning a local memorial service at a later date, but those details are still being finalized.

All donations will be put toward a scholarship fund that has been created in JT’s name.
