Salaries in Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office have grown along with number of jobs

When Charlie Miller started as a deputy in 1987, the Brunswick County Sheriff’s Office felt like a training ground, he said. Deputies would learn the ropes there, stay for a while, then move on to larger agencies with better pay.

Aldermen reject Wrightsville Beach neighborhood’s traffic flow idea

Wrightsville Beach | The Wrightsville Beach Board of Aldermen has rejected a proposal for rerouting traffic around the Hanover Seaside Club. No formal vote was taken Thursday, but none of the officials said they could endorse such a change without more support from the community.

UNCW student killed swimming during storm at Wrightsville Beach

The 18-year-old from Annapolis, Md., and a freshman at the University of North Carolina Wilmington, was swimming with a group of friends when lightning struck the water sometime after 3 p.m.
