The new moon, persistent winds and weaker currents in the mid-Atlantic Ocean should lead to higher than normal tides along area beaches this evening at about 8 p.m., according to the National Weather Service.

YMCA Triathlon could slow Wilmington traffic Saturday morning

The annual YMCA Triathlon will start at 7 a.m. Saturday at Wrightsville Beach.Motorists are warned to drive with caution throughout the bike portion of the race, which weaves throughout Wilmington east of College Road.
