W. Horace Carter, publisher for the Tabor-Loris Tribune, dies

Tabor City | W. Horace Carter, the crusading publisher who earned a Pulitzer Prize for The Tabor City Tribune in 1953, died Wednesday afternoon at New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington. He was 88.

Nine loggerhead turtles return to sea at Topsail Beach

As nine turtles were released from the Karen Beasley Sea Turtle Rescue and Rehabilitation Center Wednesday morning, one had a special tracking device attached.Sennet, a 128-pound loggerhead turtle, was released with the tracker fixed to his shell.
