Virginia Senator Mark Warner said he will try to convince International Paper not to shut down its plant in Franklin. One thousand one hundred jobs are hanging in the balance.

Workers at the Franklin plant come from both Virginia and North Carolina.

The world’s largest maker of cardboard box materials announced plans last week to cut 1,600 positions in four states as it copes with diminished demand.

International Paper’s Reigelwood plant will not be affected.

Now that Circuit City is no longer, a Wilmington woman is wondering how to get her TV fixed.

Linda Mitchell bought an extended warranty for her 52-inch RCA television that is good through 2010, but she has not had any luck getting hold of anyone from Circuit City.

“It is very frustrating knowing you done paid for a TV that you can’t get fixed after you got insurance on it,” said Mitchell.

If you are in a similar situation, Circuit City representatives stand behind their warranties. Customers who bought televisions before December 1st, 2006 should call 1-800-286-0470.

If you bought it after December 1st, 2006 call 800-878-1167.
