Cook-offs serve up best of local chili and chowder

Saturday was a great day for a cook-off. Actually, for two cook-offs.The first annual Waterford Chowder Cook-Off in Leland and the 23rd annual Chili Cook-Off at Hugh MacRae Park both took place on Saturday. Despite scattered showers, hundreds of folks attended each event.

Wilmington police divert runners to capture fugitive

On Saturday, Wilmington Police Department officers arrested a Wilmington man wanted by the U.S. Marshals Service in Arlington, Va., for more than a year. Officers arrested Eric Miguel Rivers, 28, of Wilmington at a business at the corner of 10th and Chestnut streets. He was wanted for failing to appear in court on federal drug charges.
