Landfall Foundation hands out $136,307 to 41 nonprofit agencies

On Thursday, the Landfall Foundation presented checks totaling $136,307 to 41 agencies to fund projects in the area. The 2009 grants bring to more than $1.763 million the amount contributed to local nonprofits during the foundation’s 14 years of making grants. Police seek help identifying shoplifting suspects who assaulted security officer

Wilmington | Police are asking for help identifying several people who they say beat a Walmart employee who tried to stop the suspects from shoplifting.The assault occurred at 3:23 p.m. May 25 at the Walmart on Sigmon Road, according to a statement from Lucy Crockett, spokeswoman for the Wilmington Police Department.
