Carolina Beach residents criticize irrigation mandate

A state-mandated ordinance requiring separate meters for irrigation met with resistance from residents Tuesday night.A new state statute is requiring separate water meters for irrigation than are used for household water like drinking water and shower water, said Public Utilities Director Gene Gurganious.

Dameion Herman Fagan, of Wilmington, faces one count of first-degree murder in connection with the killing, which occurred in the Creekwood public housing community, according to a statement from the Wilmington Police Department.

Several area roads to be resurfaced in 2010

Southeastern N.C. | A number of roads in Brunswick, New Hanover and Pender counties will be resurfaced next year, part of contracts awarded by the N.C. Department of Transportation, Gov. Bev Perdue announced Tuesday.
