Alganomics in Southport receives ‘green’ grant from state

Southport’s Alganomics is getting a helping hand from North Carolina’s Green Business Fund.The governor’s office said Wednesday that Alganomics is one of 18 small companies that will receive grants to develop and market promising green and alternative energy technologies and products.

Wilmington police search area of reported robbery and shot fired, find no one

WILMINGTON | Police searched a residential neighborhood near Market Street on Wednesday evening after a woman’s purse was stolen and a shot was fired.The robbery occurred about 6:30 p.m. in the 2700 block of Chestnut Street, said Lt. Tom Witkowski of the Wilmington Police Department.
