New Hanover County | A man and a woman from South Carolina are in the New Hanover County jail on drug charges after the car they were in was stopped and found to contain 34 grams of methamphetamine, a release from the sheriff’s office said.

Moviemax in Shallotte to close

Moviemax says it will close its Shallotte store before Thanksgiving after more than 15 years in business, It cited the poor economy and competition from Red Box, Netflix and cable providers.Moviemax closed its Whiteville store in July and consolidated its video and tanning operation into its Shallotte store.

Subway on Castle Hayne Road robbed

Castle Hayne | New Hanover County sheriff’s deputies were investigating a report of an armed robbery shortly before 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Subway Sandwiches & Salads restaurant at 6001 Castle Hayne Road, according to a release from the sheriff’s office.
