Southport Ferry Service Temporarily Reduced

The Southport – Fort Fisher ferry is temporarily running only half of its routes as one of its vessels goes in for service.

The ferry boat ‘Southport’ is currently being transported to the State Shipyard in Manns Harbor for repairs. To alleviate ferry traffic in the mean-time, a back up ferry is on its way.

Weather permitting, the replacement is expected to arrive in time for Monday morning commuters. Once it arrives, regular service will resume…

In the meantime, the schedule will be as follows:
· From Southport, departure times are 5:30 a.m., 7, 8:30, 10, 11:30, 1 p.m., 2:30, 4 and 6:15.
· Departing from Fort Fisher, the times are 6:15 a.m., 7:45, 9:15, 10:45, 12:15 p.m., 1:45, 3:15, 4:45 and 7.

The Cape Fear Public Utility Authority is urging you to beware. They say two people have been falsely representing themselves as employees, requesting to check water pressure issues.

The latest occurrences happened in the Eastwood Road area.

You are advised to check credentials and call the utility authority or police if you’re suspicious.

Many area churches stage Christmas cantatas this weekend

Council approves $1.5 million contract for Cross-City Trail
