Souhtport-Fort Fisher ferry suspends half of runs

Friday, December 11th, 2009

The Southport-Fort Fisher ferry is temporarily running only half of its routes as one of its vessels goes in for service.

The ferry boat, ‘Southport’, is currently being transported to the state shipyard for repairs. To alleviate ferry traffic in the meantime, a back up ferry is on its way

Weather permitting, the replacement is expected to arrive in time for Monday morning commuters. Once it arrives, regular service will resume.

The temporary schedule is:

* From Southport, departure times are 5:30 a.m., 7, 8:30, 10, 11:30, 1 p.m., 2:30, 4 and 6:15.

* Departing from Fort Fisher, the times are 6:15 a.m., 7:45, 9:15, 10:45, 12:15 p.m., 1:45, 3:15, 4:45 and 7.
