Taking out the trash this Christmas

Wondering what to do with your trash on Christmas? Well, it depends on where you live.

In Brunswick and Columbus counties, curbside pick-up normally scheduled for Friday will happen Saturday.

In Bladen and Pender counties, convenience sites will close at 3:00 Thursday afternoon and re-open Saturday morning.

If a private company picks up your trash, as in New Hanover County, you will have to check its schedule.

More H1N1 nasal spray vaccine recalled; some given out locally

CDC officials said there were no safety concerns with the affected lots, and that people who received the vaccines did not have to be revaccinated because the doses were only slightly below the standards and still would produce a protective response. Also, many people received the doses when they were at full strength, officials added.

‘Mama Dora’ Corbett puts tender loving care in her reading lessons

Three suspects arrested in Rocky Point attempted break-in

Three Rocky Point boys were caught earlier this week allegedly attempting to break into Clark’s Sausage & Pork Outlet and trying to steal a truck from a nearby farm.
