Jury: N.C. man killed wife, set body on fire

RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) – A 61-year-old North Carolina man has been found guilty of killing his wife and burning her body along the side of a highway in Virginia.Multiple media outlets reported that a Wake Count jury Friday found Harish Patel guilty of first-degree murder in the death of 57-year-old Vanlata Patel in January 2008.

From the very first Christmas my husband and I spent together, I knew we were in trouble.We’d purchased the ugliest little Christmas tree you’ve ever seen. It was about 4 feet tall, and it leaned to one side. It had big gaping holes with no branches, but we could afford it and were happy to have it.

Marine whose body found at Camp Lejeune identified

CAMP LEJEUNE, N.C. (AP) – Authorities have identified the Marine whose body was found at a North Carolina base.Camp Lejeune officials said Friday the Marine had been identified as 19-year-old Pfc. Timothy J. Newcomer of Winnebago, Ill.
