Fire damages Jersey Mike’s Subs on Eastwood Road

The Wilmington Fire Department responded to a fire at Jersey Mike’s Subs about 5 a.m. The fire was quickly brought under control , according to Battalion Chief David Hines with the fire department.

Saffo won’t seek Senate

Wilmington Mayor Bill Saffo says he will not run for Julia Boseman’s State Senate seat.

Saffo said it was a tough decision.He told WWAY Monday evening that in the end he decided he had a commitment to the voters who elected him mayor. Saffo also said there were several projects he wants to see completed, including work from the 2006 Parks Bond.
