N.C. sees refugee flow rise quickly in 2 years

North Carolina has been resettling increasing numbers of refugees, from about 1,200 in 2006 to nearly 2,300 in 2008, the most recent year for which statistics are available.It’s the 10th-largest state for resettling refugees, accepting about four percent of the national total, according to Marlene Myers, the state refugee coordinator.

Man seriously burned after woman threw boiling water on him, police say

The 34-year-old man reported he was sleeping on the couch while babysitting Monday at 811 Elanche Moore Lane in the Jervay community, according to a news release from Lucy Crockett with the Wilmington Police Department.When the woman walked in and saw the man, she threw boiling water on him, Crockett said.

Man wanted after boy was watched in YMCA dressing room

According to a witness, a man was down on his hands and knees in the men’s locker room at the Wilmington Family YMCA, looking under a door to the dressing room where a boy was dressing.
