Oak Island man dies when car flips

A 25-year-old Oak Island man died when his car flipped over on N.C. 133 on Saturday. There were no passengers or other vehicles involved. Travis Derrick Modlin died on the scene.

Commercial marina co-op plan is looking for fishermen

Brunswick County’s commercial fishermen are floating a plan they hope will revive the sinking industry. The county’s marine fisheries advisory committee has been working on a plan for a cooperative marina.
