GE moving forward with production of radioactive isotope for medicine

GE Hitachi Nuclear Energy is moving ahead with efforts to use its isotope generation technology to establish U.S. commercial production of cobalt-60, a radioisotope used for treating cancer and other biomedical applications.

Will the New Hanover County commissioners have to raise property taxes to deal with a massive budget hole?It’s too early to say, but the commissioners embarked Tuesday on the perilous task of cobbling together the spending plan for the 2010-11 fiscal year, which will run from July 1, 2010 through June 30, 2011.

Antique Show and Sale helps people and the community

Forty years ago, Teresa Lee presided over the N.C. Junior Sorosis as it held its inaugural Antique Show and Sale. Enough money was raised at the show to start a drug awareness program through New Hanover County Drug Abuse Committee, and the show has been held every year since.
