Book Marks – Saga yet to end with Old Books on Front Street

It has not been a good month for Old Books on Front Street.First, city work crews tore up the street in front of the downtown used book store as part of the big water-and-sewer update. At least for a while, you could still use the sidewalk.

‘One Tree Hill’ actors will sign autographs to help police group

Actors from the Wilmington-based TV show ‘One Tree Hill’ will once again sign autographs to raise money for the Wilmington Police Department to build a memorial wall dedicated to officers killed in the line of duty.The event will be noon to 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 20 at Walmart, 5226 Sigmon Road, off Market Street.

Update: Freezing rain, snow flurries predicted for tonight

The Wilmington area is not expected to receive much more than freezing rain and snow flurries throughout Saturday night, according to the latest forecast by the National Weather Service office in Wilmington.Meteorologist Terry Lebo said temperatures will dip into the low 20s overnight with freezing rain ending by Sunday morning.

Freezing rain advisory issued for Southeastern North Carolina

A freezing rain advisory has been issued for Southeastern North Carolina. The National Weather Service in Wilmington has received several reports of ice accumulation on trees and metal surfaces.

Toyota recall, suspension ‘a short-term negative’ for Wilmington dealership

Southeastern N.C. | It was another bad week for Toyota owners and for the company’s image.Owners around the region have been affected by the recall on floor mats, which was expanded on Tuesday, and by the temporary suspension of U.S. sales of eight models whose accelerator pedals can stick.
