Man dies, 2-year-old in critical condition after wreck near Shallotte

Shallotte | A man died Sunday, the day after police say a drunken driver crashed into the SUV he was traveling in with his wife and daughter.The wreck occurred at 6:18 p.m. Saturday on Pigott Road near Shallotte, said Trooper K.E. Herring of the N.C. Highway Patrol.

House fire shuts down several downtown blocks Sunday night

Wilmington | A fire seriously damaged a 19th century home at the intersection of North Seventh and Grace streets Sunday evening.No one was injured in the fire, which led authorities to shut down several downtown blocks for more than an hour while firefighters extinguished the blaze at 224 N. Seventh St.
