New Hanover sheriff’s deputies save 5 from burning apartment

Two New Hanover County sheriff’s deputies saved a family of five from an early morning apartment fire, according to a news release from the sheriff’s office.While on patrol near Meridian Village Apartments, Deputy Chris Roseblock and Deputy Joshua Bryant saw the burning apartment about 4:30 a.m. Saturday.

When Jeannie Mintz and Rick Hairston landed in Baton Rouge, La., after Hurricane Katrina, Melisa Gallison met them at the airport and drove them to Slidell.The three were there to help pets left homeless by the storm.Noah’s Wish had set up an emergency shelter in Slidell, on the north shore of Lake Pontchartrain.

The newest member of “One Tree Hill’s” cast, Mitch Ryan, moved to Wilmington in November to shoot episode 12 of the CW television drama. Now he’s working on episode 21 and has settled into his new job, his new home and his new character.
