Shallotte police investigating drug store robbery

Shallotte | Someone broke into a drug store on Main Street in Shallotte this past weekend and stole medication, including painkillers, according to a report filed with the town’s police department.

Topsail commissioner Hal Hanig dies

After fighting renal cancer for many months, Topsail Beach Commissioner Hal Hanig died Monday morning.Hanig, an Air Force veteran of three wars, will be buried at Arlington National Cemetery, said his son, John. Details of the burial are not yet available, and there are no plans for a local memorial service.

Sweepstakes business wins permit in Burgaw
