Candidates line up as election filing starts

Filing season started at noon Monday in what could be one of the most wide-open campaigns North Carolina has seen in decades.Among local candidates filing their paperwork early was New Hanover County Sheriff Ed McMahon, state Rep. Frank Iler in Brunswick County, and state Senate candidate and former House member David Redwine.
