New Hanover County set to name new ABC board

Change.These are the ABCs of why people want to serve on New Hanover County’s Alcoholic Beverage Control board.And on Monday, county commissioners are expected to appoint three new board members to start July 1 once a budget has been approved and new policies have been passed.

Lazy Pirate, Surf House winners of Chowder Cookoff

Carolina Beach | More than 2,000 ballots counted in Saturday’s judging at the 14th annual Chowder Cookoff in Carolina Beach. Eight local restaurants competed. Michael’s Seafood Restaurant, which has won multiple titles over the years, retired to a judging position this year.
