Leland to launch farmers’ market this summer

Leland will start its own farmers’ market this summer. It will be held noon to 5 p.m. the third Sunday of every month at Leland Town Hall. The first one is June 20.

Man charged with kidnapping after breaking-and-entering report

A Hampstead man was in jail Saturday night after being accused of kidnapping a woman outside her New Hanover County home.Jermaine Cordova, 33, is charged with breaking and entering, larceny of a motor vehicle and kidnapping. He is in custody on a $500,000 bond, according to New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Charles Smith.

Only minor injuries in crash that closed North Kerr Avenue on Saturday
