Mercury found in Myrtle Grove Middle School’s gym floor

New Hanover County Schools officials sent letters home Thursday to parents of Myrtle Grove Middle School students announcing that mercury had been found in the 22-year-old gym floor that was being prepared for replacement.

Former Edwards aide to sign book in Wilmington

The former aide who was a key figure in the John Edwards scandal will be in Wilmington on Saturday.Andrew Young says he covered up for his former boss by claiming, during the 2008 primaries, to be the father of a child by Rielle Hunter, a former actress and film producer who had been Edwards’ mistress.

Wilmington doctor facing charges for prescription forgery and fraud

Wilmington | A Wilmington physician was charged Thursday with running a prescription-for-cash operation out of his Shipyard Boulevard office.Dr. Guy David Dyer, 66, of Wilmington was charged with prescription forgery and fraud, according to a news release from the New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office.

Builder’s descendant buys part of Orton Plantation
