Sanders Road reopens after morning wreck cleared

A wreck at River and Sanders Roads closed Sanders Road at Mott’s Village Friday morning, according to the New Hanover County dispatcher’s office.

CIA pilots’ missions kept secret until 1991

Since 1991, when the U.S. government decided to officially recognize their service, civilian pilots have been free to talk about their experiences. Because they were not officially in the military, they were not permitted to be recognized on the Vietnam War Memorial wall.

Skyway supporters try to make case to Turnpike Authority

One swim advisory remains on Oak Island

Swim advisories for Oak Island beach sites were lifted Thursday after state tests showed bacteria levels had fallen to acceptable levels, but one remains in effect for Lighthouse Park at Caswell Beach.
