Wilmington’s preliminary budget includes tax increase

The council voted 4-2 in favor of a proposed 2010-11 budget that calls for a 3.75-cent property tax increase that would raise the city’s rate to 37 cents per $100 of assessed value.

Dog missing after cars collide on Market Street

The crash occurred about 7 p.m., when a silver Honda traveling north on Market Street collided with a white Ford Contour turning left off of Market Street onto Middle Sound Loop Road, Trooper Neil Troutman of the N.C. Highway Patrol said.

Trial begins to determine who controls Brunswick County’s sewage

County government and local provider H2GO (formerly the North Brunswick Sanitary District) took up their ongoing lawsuit in Brunswick County Superior Court on Tuesday. The county sued H2GO in March 2009, claiming H2GO was breaching an agreement by building a new sewage treatment plant in competition with the county’s plan to expand its own.
