Nonprofit to host veterans outreach fair each month in Magnolia

Scavenger hunt identifies historic city landmarks

History mysteries have been solved, at least locally.From these enigmatic images and clues, the Historic Wilmington Foundation received 22 complete entries in the first Historic Wilmington Foundation-StarNews National Preservation Month Scavanger Hunt, 14 of which had all the right answers.

Change urged in Pender County Health Department’s leadership style

Teen facing charges for car break-ins

Wilmington | Police arrested a 16-year-old Monday in car break-ins, according to a news release from the Wilmington Police Department.David Edward Fitzgerald Whitesell is charged with three counts of breaking and entering cars and larceny. He is being held in the New Hanover County jail under a $5,000 secured bond.

Knife seized from ‘person of interest’ in bones case

Investigators searched the apartment of a Wilmington man they now describe as a “person of interest” in an investigation into the killings of two women off Carolina Beach Road. During the search, a knife was seized and sent to a state crime lab for analysis.
