Two killed in wreck near Burgaw

A 2003 Nissan Sentra was driving east on N.C. 53 about 9 a.m. when it failed to stop at a flashing red light and was hit by a tractor-trailer going south on U.S. 421, said Trooper Richard Hendrickson of the N.C. Highway Patrol.

Judge decides to reissue ABC permits for Liquid Room

An administrative law judge has decided that Alcoholic Beverage Control permits should be reissued for a downtown establishment that lost its permits after officials said an underage woman was drinking there before she drove and fatally crashed her car.
