Floodwaters continue to rise around Northeast Cape Fear River

The National Weather Service’s advanced hydrologic prediction service, which estimates river depths, showed the river at 10 feet Friday afternoon and predicted it would crest at more than 13 feet by Sunday.

Steve Holland’s house off N.C. 53 in Holly Shelter was flooded Thursday, so he had to stay with a friend who lived outside the area where more than 3 feet of water flooded the rural road.
