Arrest made in prescription drug robbery at Walgreens

According to a press release from the New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office, Alan Ryan Benson was charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon, possession with the intent to sell and deliver drugs classified as Schedule II narcotics, maintaining a vehicle or dwelling for drugs and possession of stolen goods. Along with those felony charges, Benson also was charged with a misdemeanor for possession of drug paraphernalia.

Housing Authority probes claims of $80,000 in unpaid wages

The Wilmington Housing Authority is investigating roughly $80,000 in unpaid wages to workers on one of its housing projects. Housing Authority CEO Mike Krause said the authority has asked the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and the N.C. Department of Labor to look into claims by workers who say they have not gotten paid by subcontractor, N.C. Contracting Inc.
