Brunswick DA scolds judge, demands apology

Brunswick County District Attorney Jon David called a judge’s order questioning his ethics "slanderous" and based on a "petty personality conflict," in a strongly worded letter sent to the judge Monday.On Friday, Chief District Court Judge Jerry Jolly filed an administrative order saying David’s proposed traffic court program would constitute a "gross impropriety" because the owner of the company that would provide some driving courses contributed to David’s most recent campaign.

I’ll never think of that closet underneath my in-laws’ stairwell the same way.At mid-afternoon Saturday, I crouched in the back corner, my 8-month-old daughter seated in my lap, surrounded by golf clubs and old boots.My wife and our two dogs, as well as my mother- and father-in-law, squeezed in beside us. Underneath the basement stairwell, we figured, was the safest place in the house.Radio and TV reports had confirmed a tornado was headed our way.
