Proposed Wilmington city budget includes money for new fire truck

The Wilmington City Council voted Thursday to include a new fire truck in its proposed budget.The new truck will cost the city $750,000, with the first $100,000 payment in next year’s budget. The money will likely come out of the city’s fund balance, essentially a savings account. The truck is dual purpose, acting as both an engine, with a pump and hoses, and a ladder truck.
