UNCW prepares graduates for careers tackling top issues

Miiram Zeskind and Brandon Hilton say UNCW has prepared them for the "real world." The two have grown in similar ways through the school’s guidance, saying they have learned lessons in fiscal responsibility, independence and what constitutes a hard work ethic.

Nearly 90, but boxer isn’t ready to sit down

The name Bryant Huffman and the word ordinary cannot be used in the same sentence. The 89-year-old Hampstead resident, who can still float like a butterfly as a boxing coach, devotes his free time helping those in need and showing others retirement doesn’t mean sitting down. Whether dancing at the Moose Lodge or square dancing with the 76ers Square dance club, Huffman makes his time count.

Redistricting has failed to even student numbers in New Hanover

Redistricting was supposed to address the problem of too many students crammed into some of the New Hanover County elementary schools by evening out the numbers. But more than three years after new lines were drawn, overcrowding is still an issue in some schools, while others remain underutilized.
