Pender commissioners avoid tax hike

Pender County commissioners unanimously decided Monday to not impose a tax increase for residents and adopted a budget that maintained a revenue-neutral tax rate, instead using money from the county’s fund balance to cover the $2.58-million dollar shortfall the county was facing.
