Battleship North Carolina: 50 Years in Wilmington

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Fifty years ago Sunday, the Battleship North Carolina made finished its long journey from New Jersey to Wilmington. It took great vision, lots of cash and some careful navigation to get "The Showboat" into the slip where she lives now.

ONLY ON 3: Leland Councilwoman wants police department investigated; Mayor Futch holding up approval

LELAND, NC (WWAY) — Leland Town Councilwoman Martha Currie came forward today, requesting the town council call a special meeting to approve hiring a private investigator to look into allegations of corruption and misconduct in the Leland Police Department.

Currie says Mayor Walter Futch is aware of her request, but has yet to act. Currie says if Futch won’t call a special meeting, she’ll make her proposal at the next council meeting.
