STORMTRACK 3: A lull in the tropics as Maria stays offshore

Tuesday, September 13th, 2011

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A weak and disorganized Maria is still sitting just north of Puerto Rico, and will not come near the United States coastline. Instead, it will head northward on a path similar to Katia.

All we can expect is a slightly heightened risk of rip currents this week at the beaches. Please pay attention to the conditions before heading into the water.

The rest of the tropics are actually quiet right now, as we wait for more tropical waves to emerge off the African coast.

You can always see the latest forecast path for each system at Hurricanes 101.
