Mrs. Black N.C. will speak at New Hanover library

Shore Lines – Theories abound about drones found on beaches

Robbie Johnson, of Carolina Beach, found something unusual this morning on the beach strand about a half mile south of the Carolina Beach pier. An unmanned aircraft, also known as a drone and perhaps controlled by a remote, had crash-landed near some rocks on that area of the beach. The aircraft was several feet long and had white and orange markings.

Brunswick eyes incentives to score Project Soccer

As the decision draws closer about where the code-named Project Soccer industrial facility will locate, Brunswick County is finalizing the incentives it will offer.While the state legislature has discussed special incentives for the manufacturing facility, the county is considering a fairly standard slate of perks, county Economic Development Director Jim Bradshaw said.

FIRST ON 3: Drone planes show up overnight at area beaches

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — Folks at two area beaches had quite a surprise this morning. They found what appear to be military drones on the beach.

Jerry and Barbara Kennedy in Oak Island sent us two photos of the drone they ran across on the strand, which is larger than a grown man (above, right). We also received a photo from Carolina Beach (above, left).

We are checking with the military to see if they can identify the aircraft.
