Pleasure Island goes to the dogs at Salty Paws Festival

Wednesday, October 12th, 2011

CAROLINA BEACH, NC (WWAY) — Looking for some fun with your four-legged friend? Head to Pleasure Island this weekend. Carolina Beach goes to the dogs Saturday for the Third Annual Salty Paws Festival.

Organizer Jeannie Mintz stopped by “Good Morning Carolina” this morning to tell us a little bit about what we can expect this year. Aside from the bands, food and vendors, the most important thing is finding homeless animals a safe and loving home.

“We have about 20 rescue groups out there, and we have lots of homeless animals that need a home so very badly,” Mintz said. “So our hope this year is we want to make sure that we get as many homes as we can this weekend and also bring in as much money as we can to take care of them in the future.”

You can get your pet microchipped to help make sure they come home if they ever go missing.

The Salty Paws Festival is Saturday from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. at Carolina Beach Lake.
