Wilmington’s Luna Pops going national after winning top honors

Wednesday, October 5th, 2011

WILMINGTON, NC (WWAY) — A local, all-natural frozen treat store recently won an award that will spread its tasty product nationwide.

Dina Mills took her freezer truck all the way up to the Natural Products Expo East show in Baltimore on a mission to spread the word about Luna Pops. The specialty flavor hibiscus lemon was presented to more than 20,000 judges. They voted the smooth-flavored pop the best new food of 2011.

“It was an amazing experience,” Mills said. “It was a three-day trade show, which was very tiring, but to enter a product alongside of some much bigger players and then to find out on the first day we have been chosen as a finalist and then at the end of the day get best new food was just an incredible experience.”

Luna Pops is now preparing to launch nationally with some of its favorite flavors in specialty stores, natural food stores and grocery stores across America.
